Our Successes

Since 2009, SchoolSeed Foundation has been a pillar of community impact in Memphis, Tennessee, fostering meaningful initiatives that support families, children,  youth development, and mental health services.

Under the stable and visionary leadership of its founding CEO, Vincent J. McCaskill, SchoolSeed has thrived as a catalyst for transformative community efforts. The foundation has successfully raised and managed substantial funds to support a variety of its initiatives and has been entrusted with managing over $90 million from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation which supported a community wide effort to support educators. These achievements underscore SchoolSeed’s capacity and trustworthiness in handling significant philanthropic investments to support children, families, and community-based initiatives.

At the core of SchoolSeed’s mission is a commitment to strengthening families, which, in turn, strengthens communities. Through strategic programs and partnerships, SchoolSeed addresses critical community needs by offering:

  • Kindred Place – A 27,000-square-foot facility providing family counseling, parent training, and life skills programming. The revitalization of Kindred Place is a testament to the trust and confidence the community places in SchoolSeed’s leadership. This space now serves as a hub for therapeutic services that help families navigate trauma and improve mental health outcomes.
  • Youth Homelessness Demonstration Navigation - SchoolSeed's Youth Homelessness Demonstration Navigation Program (YHDP) is a crucial initiative that addresses and prevents homelessness among youth in Memphis. As one of several organizations working collectively on this effort, SchoolSeed provides vital youth navigation services, helping young people access stable housing, educational support, and mental health services. The program involves personalized case management, vocational training, and life skills workshops, empowering at-risk youth to achieve long-term stability and success. By offering a holistic approach, YHDP not only tackles the immediate challenges of homelessness but also equips participants with the necessary tools for a sustainable and independent future.
  • Bridge Up Giddy Up – A youth development initiative that immerses inner-city youth in the equestrian world, offering mentorship, life skills training, and exposure to new opportunities that build confidence and discipline.
  • Community Collaboration and Outreach – Working closely with residents, local and state government, local organizations, and businesses to address pressing needs that uplift families and create sustainable support networks within Memphis.

Securing and managing private resources to support families and strengthen communities is at the core of SchoolSeed’s approach. We believe that by empowering families, we lay the foundation for long-term community success. Our mission is deeply rooted in collaboration, ensuring that our initiatives align with the needs of Memphis families and provide meaningful solutions that create lasting change.

SchoolSeed has worked closely with every local philanthropy in Memphis and has partnered with dozens of businesses to support its efforts, reflecting its deep integration into the community’s philanthropic fabric. The foundation’s ability to adapt and respond to evolving community needs while maintaining robust partnerships with government entities, private donors, and nonprofit organizations underscores its role as a trusted and tested leader.

SchoolSeed’s journey since 2009 illustrates its unwavering commitment to strengthening families, empowering communities, and delivering sustainable solutions that foster long-term success.
