Our History

SchoolSeed Foundation was established in 2009. During its early years, SchoolSeed successfully conducted a major fundraising campaign, raising nearly $21 million to enhance teacher and leadership effectiveness. This initiative highlighted the foundation's capacity to effectively support and work collaboratively with community partners and educational leadership.

Throughout its history, SchoolSeed has managed significant grants, including a notable $90 million grant aimed at improving educator effectiveness. This role was particularly crucial during complex transitions involving local educational institutions, where SchoolSeed maintained continuity on behalf of donors and connectivity, ensuring the stability of ongoing programs.

SchoolSeed transitioned its focus to raise resources for programs and initiatives it launched. Our direct services impacted the teaching community in 2016 as SchoolSeed expanded its initiatives by launching the Teacher Toolbox, a free resource for educators to obtain necessary supplies, significantly supporting the teaching community. The foundation has consistently focused on enhancing programs that directly benefit children and families, promoting better educational  and holistic outcomes and broader community engagement.

Today, SchoolSeed stands as a key entity facilitating community investment in its direct services that focuses on homelessness, children and family counseling through its Kindred Place facility and other community programming such as its Bridge Up Giddy Up equestrian program for inner city children, driving programs that advocate for and improve experiences across the community, establishing itself as a trusted and effective partner in advancing efforts that strengthen the community.
