The SCS Board Cares Utility Assistance Fund is the brainchild of school board member Joyce Dorse Coleman. It was her vision to move forward with this initiative after seeing the impact of COVID-19 on already distressed households in our community. The fund is an external and independent initiative of the school board and is funded with private donations. The fund is managed by SchoolSeed Foundation. SchoolSeed is Shelby County Schools independent foundation and will administer the fund to qualified recipients who are awarded utility grants. Funds will be disbursed as funds are available.
