This Thanksgiving, We Are Grateful for You
As we gather to reflect on our blessings this Thanksgiving, we are overwhelmed with gratitude for the trust and support you’ve shown to SchoolSeed. Because of you, we’ve been able to plant seeds of hope and transformation in the lives of our community's youth—together, we are making a profound impact.
This year, our journey of progress is anchored in incredible milestones like the Jim Herbert STEM Center at Whitehaven High School, a dream that took seven years of tireless fundraising to bring to life. Thanks to your unwavering support, this state-of-the-art facility is less than a year from completion. Soon, it will be a beacon of opportunity, preparing students for thriving careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
We’re also celebrating three years of the Bridge Up Giddy Up program, which has immersed inner-city middle and high school students into the equestrian world. This program doesn’t just teach riding; it imparts life skills, builds confidence, and inspires excellence in our youth. These young riders, once distant from such opportunities, now compete, learn, and dream bigger because of you.
Another cornerstone of our work is in supporting Memphis families who are most in need. Over the last three years, SchoolSeed has been immersed in addressing the critical issue of youth homelessness through our Youth Homelessness Navigation Program, part of the federal Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program (YHDP). This work has directly impacted dozens of young people and their families, helping them find stability, shelter, and hope for the future.
As Youth Navigators, we provide a lifeline to young people experiencing homelessness. This includes connecting them with safe and stable housing, access to healthcare, educational support, and job opportunities. In collaboration with agencies across the city, we work to eliminate barriers that prevent these youth from thriving, addressing each unique situation with care, dignity, and compassion. Our partnerships enable us to reach youth who are often overlooked, ensuring they receive the wraparound services needed to rebuild their lives.
This year, we were honored to be named Agency of the Year by the Community Alliance for the Homeless Continuum of Care for this work. It is a recognition of the collective effort, trust, and impact we’ve been able to achieve, one life at a time, through our partnerships with organizations across Memphis working tirelessly to eliminate homelessness.
We are also profoundly grateful for your belief in SchoolSeed’s ability to steward resources for the greater good. This trust manifested in the rescue of Kindred Place, which will soon reopen its doors as a sanctuary for families in need of counseling and support.
All of this—every life changed, every opportunity created, every challenge overcome—is possible because donors like you have placed your trust in us. SchoolSeed is Tested, Proven, and Trusted, and we do not take that responsibility lightly. Your belief in our mission fuels our commitment to education, healing, and community empowerment.
As we approach Giving Tuesday, we invite you to continue partnering with us in this vital work. Your generosity allows us to expand our programs, reach more students, and ensure that every child and family has the resources they need to thrive. Together, let’s plant even more seeds of hope and success in our community.
This Thanksgiving, we thank you for your heart, your trust, and your commitment to making a difference. Your support proves that when we work together, incredible things happen.
